Is an Avocado a Fruit or a Vegetable?
This is a discussion I had one with of my elementary classes and I am here to resolve it once and for all. IT IS A FRUIT! Don’t worry if you thought differently, it is a common misconception that avocados are vegetables. They are native to Central America and are technically classified as a large berry with a single seed. The definition of a fruit by the Merriam-Webster dictionary says that it is usually the edible reproductive body of a seed plant. They are categorized as a fruit because you can eat an avocado and then grow another one from its seed or pit.
