Homemade Cranberry Sauce
Homemade cranberry sauce is so easy to make and is the perfect accompaniment to a holiday dish. I love to put it on top of Greek yogurt and make other recipes with it. I have always enjoyed making a traditional cranberry sauce BUT sometimes you have to change things up a little. In this recipe I use both brown sugar and white sugar. The brown sugar adds an extra bit of sweetness to contrast the natural tartness of the cranberries. I also incorporate orange juice and zest into the sauce. It adds a light citrus flavor to the dish and a freshness that is irresistible. Cranberry sauce is so versatile and doesn’t have to be a seasonal recipe! Let me know what dishes you create with this homemade cranberry sauce.
How to Make Homemade Cranberry Sauce
- First, rinse the cranberries in a colander and pick out any bruised or bad ones.
- Next, put the water and sugar in a medium saucepan on high heat and bring to a boil.
- Stir to dissolve the sugar.
- Once the water is brought to a boil add in the cranberries, orange juice, and spices.
- Lower the heat and let the sauce simmer for about ten minutes so that the cranberries burst and the sauce thickens.
- Add in the orange zest then set the sauce aside to cool.
Spotify Playlist
When I was thinking about what artists to include in this playlist, I honestly just thought about the songs I was listening to recently while cooking. I hope you enjoy these pieces by Adele from her new album and Girl Named Tom, the most recent winner of The Voice.
